An Ode to August
August's almost complete
What a month it has been
Read the following poem
And you'll see what I mean...
Pride week has begun
And all through the night
The men line the streets
In leather vests and coloured tights
At reggae fest this year
The bills were not paid
The main event didn’t show
And the police staged a raid
I still go to yoga
The Sunday Bikram class
The men still wear those speedos
Showing way way too much a$$
Softball ended this week
After our first playoff game
Our team tried its best
Oh that excuse is so lame.
Curd Fest at St Alberts
Was quite the cheesy affair
With bingo, a farmers market,
And free curds everywhere!
I went to a go-kart event
Just me and the guys
And despite not go-karting
I came away with a prize…
My culinary skills
Are improving every day
I do the prep work
Head chef Jenn leads the way
When I want attention from men
I take O for a walk
Every weirdo on the street
Will engage in small talk
Tonight I leave Ottawa
For a few family days
After last trip’s debacle
I’ll be flying both ways J
Jenn’s off to Iceland this weekend
To meet up with Christine
Enjoy the whale watching tour
And Reykjavik's night scene!
As the days get much shorter
And the fall weather moves in
We kiss goodbye to summer
I wonder what September will bring?
What a month it has been
