Shrove Tuesday Celebrations
Jenn and I hosted our friends for an awesome Pancake Tuesday dinner! We have Jenn's friend Chris visiting us from Baton Rouge and we needed to show him that us Canadians may not have Mardi Gras but we can still put on one heck of a good feast.
Everyone contributed toppings and Jenn and Chris manned the frying pans to make some delicious chocolate chip/sprinkle pancakes and some regular plain ones too. The platter was full which was good since we had 10 people to feed. The toppings were the best part though and we had all kinds of fruit, whipped cream, yogurt, syrup, butter, peanut butter, jam, chocolate chips, marshmallows, and honey.
I had one of each kind of pancake and smothered the chocolate chip one with fruit and whipped cream and the other with good old maple syrup :)
We finished the meal off with some jelly filled donuts (pootkas??) that are apparently big in the US and Jenn had gotten them especially for the occasion from a Polish bakery. I didn't try one (I was already on a sugar high from the pancakes) but I heard they were great.
I created a little Pancake trivia for the gang too and Lisa one with 4/10 - her prize was a new pancake flipper!
Happy Pancake Day!
PS: Don't forget to turn your clocks ahead this weekend (Spring forward)! I'm looking forward to the brighter evenings but not the dark morning drive to work or losing an hour.
