Half-way In...
Wow!
Can you believe I have been in Ottawa for six months? It's been six months of learning a new city, meeting some awesome people and having lots of fun and adventures along the way. I finally feel like I am settled here (a true Ottawa native). I can give people directions to local sites, I know which streets are one-way (and which way those one-ways go), and I have made a great group of Ottawa girlfriends.
So, what has changed in me in the last six months living here...
Friends and family are so important. I must say that I have done a pretty good job keeping in touch with everyone from home and now that I have a great group of friends here, my life is much more enjoyable! (Huge thanks to Teri on this...)
I do miss my family and friends from home but phone, email and texting makes keeping in touch pretty convenient (LOVE the iPhone for this reason).
Ottawa weather is not predictable nor consistent- so far I have faced snowstorms, pelting rain, scorching sun, and most recently, an EARTHQUAKE! And I have lived through all of these and been just fine.
Yoga is not just a boring meditation practice. I still don't think I've found my chakras (nor do I know what chakras even are), but I have become very flexible and learned to relax in YOGA class and clear my head for 90 minutes a couple times a week.
Living with the right person is key. Having a roommate you get along well with is awesome! Stay tuned for the newly decorated condo pics coming soon...
I need my daily Second Cup flavoured coffee fix.... mmm... makes my mornings... helps that the Second Cup employee is good-looking and I get a little flirt action before going to work :)
Trying new things and throwing yourself out there is awesome! I have never snow-shoed, skated on the Canal, dressed as a mascot, had high tea, done hot yoga, gone on a ski fondue party, drank Boddingtons beer, eaten a whole lobster, NOT gotten into the bar, cooked real adult meals for one, seen the Queen! or zip-lined down a gorge, to name a few things.
Stay tuned... this summer looks to be filled with more excitement with my new roomies Jenn and Oliver... xoxo
