A(nother) Trip Out West
Work found me out on the west coast of BC from June 6-11 for some training and audit work. I flew into Kamloops and my colleague picked me up and we traveled to Salmon Arm for a couple of nights and then through Vernon and back to Kamloops for a few more nights there. Being surrounded by the mountains and fresh BC air was great! Although the weather was wet and cool the first couple of days, it soon improved and it was great to get away and have a change of scenery. The photo here is in Vernon where we had lunch by the water.
We worked hard in the day but did manage to get down to the local Earls to catch the play-off action. Those BC fans were going crazy! I'm glad I was back home before Game 7 especially when I saw the pictures and videos of downtown Vancouver after the Canucks lost... very poor sportsmanship shown by those fans...
On the way home from BC, I made a stop into Calgary and spent the day with Alexis and Melanie! What a treat it was to be able to see them both and get caught up in person. We had a great day together, eating lunch at a little cafe in the park near downtown Calgary. The food was all local, organic fare with fresh homemade bread and soups... mmm mmm! Then we shopped and hung out the rest of the afternoon, went out for dinner and said our goodbyes as I headed home on the red-eye. I think it took me a few days before I felt normal again (and in the right timezone) but seeing the girls was worth it!
