Where have the last two weeks gone?
So I have definitely slacked on my blogging this month so I will make it up to you in this entry with an update on what's been happening in the capital city and the rest of my life....
Election Time!
With the looming Federal Election, the city is full of political protests, lobbyists and signs for the candidates. Not to mention the enslaught of Government advertisements encouraging Canadians to vote. (I'm in agreement with these, you should vote!) I'm not going to express any of my own political views but it has been interesting reading about the candidates and the issues debated. Being near Parliament Hill, the protesters have come out in full force. Last weekend I saw people protesting about immigration laws and healthcare and I saw a group marching about abortion rights. It will be interesting to see what the outcome of the election is and what all transpires in the next couple weeks leading up to it.
Winter's Final Revenge?
I thought we were finally over having snow and freezing temperatures but I was definitely premature. The snow/ice/rain fell for most of Saturday afternoon here with temperatures going below zero most nights last week. A huge change from the previous weekend when we had +20'C and beautiful sunny skies! I do love that no matter where you are in this country, at the first sign of nice weather, Canadians put on their shorts, t-shirts and sandals and strut their stuff like it's the middle of July. I'm just hoping that this is it and Easter brings some warmer temps.
Moving Update!
My official moving date back to Thamesford is April 29th! I will be moving back to 9 Minler Road for the summer and then out of their come August/Sept. My new position begins in May with Emco. I'm very excited for the new challenges and I cannot wait to spend more time with my niece and the rest of my family and friends. My old roomies seemed ok with me coming back... they will be away during the move so I can establish my territory before they get back. I don't want to get too settled since I'll have to repack everything I unpack and we all know packing is a crappy job so the more I can keep in boxes, the better!
Mark's UFC Fight in TO
As the fight gets closer, Mark's celebrity status is rising! I have seen newspaper articles, pictures, billboards in Times Square, TV specials all dedicated to the Machine himself. For those of you who missed the "Road to the Rogers: A Day in the Life of Mark Hominick" show last week on Sportsnet, there will be another special on the Wednesday night before the fight on Mark again and this one will include interviews from Aunt Marie and Grandma Rinn. A must-see for all Machine fans. I managed to get tickets for the fight for Alec and I and Linds & Nic too so we'll be there for the action!
I hope that catches you up on some news - the rest of the month will probably be a blur too with the move and job change but I'll keep you posted :)
