Erin Go Bragh! (Ireland Forever)
Happy St. Patrick's Day!
While all of the unviersty students and old men are out partying, I am working hard today. Besides my regular work day, I have my accounting exam first thing tomorrow morning so the celebrations tonight are going to be minimal. However, I hope to take a break and go out for a green beer - it would be an insult to my heritage if I didn't at least have one pint. I wrote a little ditty to honor St. Pat - I truly do have some Irish in my background (with the name Kathleen, there's got to be some Irish influence there). Enjoy!
C’est le jour Ste-Patrice
Ils disent en francais
That’s St Patrick’s Day Dad
(He only knows franglais)
So we all wear emerald
And drink some green beer
To celebrate March 17th
And spread Irish cheer
I wore a bright green sweater
And silver shamrock studs
I made green sprinkled brownies
And for dinner - Irish spuds!
The Ottawa pubs are lined up
From noon through midnight
Irish t-shirts are aplenty
Guiness sales reach new heights
“Kiss me I’m Irish”
Is a phrase heard throughout
(Unfortunately the asker
Is most often a lout)
Drunken red heads named Seamus
Appear out of the woodwork
Their Irish heritage, means they have
The right to go completely berserk
So say Erin Go Bragh!
As you lift up your glass
And cheers to good ol’ St Patty
From each soused lad and lass!
