A Work Trip Out West
Work took me out to Edmonton from May 25-28. I flew into Edmonton on Wednesday to some cold rainy weather... about 7'C and very wet. The farmers out there are having the same trouble as the farmers around here getting their fields planted this spring.
My good friend Allie lives in Edmonton with her boyfriend Tyler where they are both doing their residency at the university hospital there. Allie was free on Wed night so she was able to come and get me and we went out for dinner at Earls at the West Edmonton Mall. I hadn;t been to that mall since I was a kid with Mom, Dad, Susan and Grandma Rinn on our cross-Canada trip so it was pretty cool to see the indoor waterpark, amusement park, and ice skating rink - not to mention the thousands of stores! We wandered around for a little while after dinner but with both of us having early starts the next day and me on Ontario time, we had a fairly early night.
Thursday morning took me to Camrose which is a smaller town about an hour and a half northeast of Edmonton. I worked with a great group there and another member of the audit team. We stayed there overnight and got back to Edmonton around suppertime on Friday. Allie had worked a 24-hour shift overnight to Friday morning so she was free again for another evening with me! Tyler joined us this time as well and we first had a visit at their apartment and then went out for dinner to Earls (yes, again! Allie and I loved what we had so much on Wed that we had the exact same things again). It was awesome to see her and Tyler and I'm hoping to get back out there again this summer for another (non-work related) long weekend.
I flew back to London on Saturday with a stopover in Toronto for 2 hours where I indulged in a manicure while I waited. I never ever thought I would be getting a manicure in an airport but I never take the time during the week for things like that and my nails looked great. It was the perfect way to kill an hour :)
