Leap Year
In honour of Leap Year, I decided to LEAP right over February and into March :)
In all serisousness, February really got away on me I spent a lot of nights in hotels and time in between studying and trying to keep up with my life. I travelled to Philadelphia, Toronto, Sudbury, Belleville, Oshawa, Peterborough for overnight visits. All of these were work-related trips. Studying is for my CGA exam which is on March 6th. It's the Finance course which is not one of my favorite subjects by any means so I've had to work hard at it. I will be happy when it's over and I can put Finance behind me (providing I pass of course).
February also saw Mom and Dad head off to NZ with Aunt Lynda and Uncle Ron. I have had some updates via email and it sounds like the weather is beautiful and they are having a great time. The jealousy I am feeling right now is huge though I don't envy the 20 hour plane ride...
I tried a new (well, new to me) restaurant on Valentines in Woodstock called 649. It's in an old house located behind the Dairy Queen (off Dundas) and it was amazing! There were about 10 tables and the meal was incredible and the service was great! They brought us little amuse bouches and pallet cleansers between courses and the plating and preparation of the food was over the top. My new favorite special occasion spot I think.
I organized the Pancake Supper in Thamesford at the United Church for Pancake Tuesday. We had about 170 people come and enjoy the spread of pancakes, sausage, bacon, ice cream and cupcakes and raised money for a local woman who's doing work in Africa. Sadly, after organizing the event, I ended up being sent away for work and not able to attend but I had a team in place to run the show and I had prepped and sold tickets for weeks in advance. No problems!
The groundhog not seeing his shadow made me hopeful that this wonky winter will soon be over but I'm not entirely convinced that we've seen the last of the snow yet. This up and down temperatures are starting to get annoying. And I think it's making people more sick than in past years... I know the weather can't make you sick, germs make you sick, but I want to blame it on something.
Mom celebrated her 64th birthday in February and I took her out to lunch at the Bakery Cafe and we had a lovely day together poking around the stores and hanging out. She's pretty awesome.
Speaking of awesome, Leah is pretty much the most awesome niece I could ask for. If I need a little pick-me-up after work, I just stop in at Susan and Alec's on my way home so I can hear her squeal "Kate!" when I walk in the door. Then we march or jump or read a book, build a tower, giggle... she's the best.
I will keep up in March, this I promise - once the exam is over!
Ta-ta for now!
