The One and Only
I spent last Saturday at Canada's Wonderland! I hadn't been there since my Grade 8 class trip about 12 years ago... a lot had changed since then!
Christine and I met in Mississauga and then carried on to Canada's Wonderland for a day of roller coaster riding. The weather was pretty hot on Satuday so the place was busy and especially the waterpark. We had decided that our mission for the day was to ride as many of the roller coasters as we could (which realistically we knew would be about 8 or 9 given the lines).
We got to the park around 10:30 in the morning and headed straight for what used to be called Top Gun but is now called Flight Deck. Upside-down with a few hills, it was a good way to start of the day and the line up was only about a half hour wait. It was then onto another upside down coaster but this time you were laying down head first on the ride with 3 other people in your capsule. I had never laid flat on a roller coaster before but it was pretty cool - you really felt like you were flying.
Then we got hungry so we grabbed some food and joined the looong line for Bohemeth! That is the roller coaster you can see from the highway - the HUGE yellow one. It's the newest roller coaster at the park and it is awesome! Definitely worth the 45 minute wait to ride this beast. I screamed like I have never screamed before.
Next to Bohemeth was a ride called the Stunt Roller Coaster - we were curious so we checked it out. This roller coaster didn't have any loops or huge drops instead it was superfast with really jerky turns. It was a little too much for Christine's poor stomach (which had just ingested a gigantic footlong hotdog) and she proceded to throw up in the garbage can immediately after stepping off the ride. She was a real trooper though and didn't want to leave but instead took it easy while I did the stand-up roller coaster and the Vortex. She relaxed in the shade and the mist zone (a Coca-Cola sponsored area that you can cool down in - pretty great idea for these hot days). Then we both went on Thunder Railway (or something like that) which is like Big Thunder Mountain Railroad at Disney. We were both hot at that point and Christine suggested a water rafting ride. I was less keen on getting soaked but figured I would be ok on that one. I obviously was the wettest person getting off the raft after getting in the way of a few unfortunate waves and waterfalls :) Luckily, with the heat outside, I was dry in no time and felt much cooler. Our final ride was the Dragon Fire roller coaster. Christine's stomach was back to normal and she came on with me and survived all the drops and loops.
We were pretty tird out at that point and our stomachs were definitely all over the place so we called it a day around 5pm and headed back to Mississauga. Another great staycation!
