What MAY this month bring??
May is the month where spring turns to summer, we honour our great Moms on Mothers' Day, and Thamesford hosts its annual Calithumpian celebrations on the Victoria Day long weekend. It's also the month that Leah Lockhart gets christened, Grandma Lockhart turns 90 years old, and Nicole Blair returns from New Zealand!
For me personally, May is going to be a busy month... A week-long conference in Toronto and Kitchener for work, my friends Amanda and Jacob get married in Fingal, I write my final exam for my accounting course, and Linds and Nicole come to Ottawa at the end of the month!
To kick off May, Ottawa hosted the annual National Women's Show on May 1st at Lansdowne Park. The show has all sorts of vendors promoting health, food, fashion, and business for women as well as a main stage with cooking demonstrations and guest speakers. This year's main event was none other than the Bachelor and Dancing with the Stars most recent castoff - Jake Pavelka! If no one else, I feel like Mary Grass would be a little bit envious that I got to see Jake in the flesh. He spoke about both shows and answered questions from the audience (of about 200 women) on his life with Vienna, what Vienna was really like on the show, Ali and the other girls he dismissed, and what's next for him. To be honest, I wasn't all that impressed with him, but it was still cool to see him.
