The Month Ahead...
I've survived the first month and the next one looks to be action-packed. Just to let you know of some of the upcoming events. Winterlude kicks off this weekend and goes for 3 weeks. I'm volunteering at the Opening Ceremonies and throughout the first weekend. I'm also volunteering during the 3rd week. I won't tell you yet what exactly I'm doing, but in the next couple weeks all will be revealed...
In addition, I have my first visitor(s) coming this month , we are hosting a Valentines' Day party, and there will of course be lots of winter sports still happening on the weekends and evenings. I also plan to check out as much of Winterlude as I can and see the ice sculptures, go on the slides, see the performers, and skate some more on the Rideau.
I'll keep you posted...

MAMA ICE HOG
I think the pcture speaks for itself.... Saturday night I dressed as Mama Ice Hog. Don't ask how I get myself into things like this, but it seems to happen. Basically, this meant hugging, high-fiving, and blowing kisses to a group of West Jet big wigs and their families at the Westin Hotel. Oh, and getting our pictures taken a hundred times. The suits weren't too heavy to wear but they certainly were hot! (and I mean temperature hot obviously). It was definitely a fun experience and I'm looking forward to doing it again on the last weekend of Winterlude for another one or two events.
A little Ice Hog background:
A little Ice Hog background:
- There are four Ice Hogs - Papa & Mama Ice Hog and their twins Noumi and Nouma - they are related to ground hogs
- While they're here, they live in Jacques-Cartier Park, because they love playing on the snow structures, walking through the Park, watching people have fun, and giving big furry hugs to children. The Ice Hogs also like to go to the Canal and the other Winterlude sites to enjoy ice and snow sculptures, music and all sorts of performers.
- Some people say that those orange-painted holes in the Canal are not used only for flooding it to make a smooth skating surface. They say that the holes are magic doorways that the Ice Hogs use to get around quickly. Don't get too close to the holes, though, because there really is water underneath. But keep your eyes open - you never know what can happen with magical creatures!
