The Month Ahead... and Behind
Well September is getting away from us and I haven't even got started on it!
So... what has happened up to this point:
So... what has happened up to this point:
Labor Day Weekend
I spent a quiet Labor Day weekend in the capital city. Jenn was still on her trip to Iceland and I was not heading to Thamesford as I had been there the weekend before and would be going again the next weekend. While it was a fairly uneventful weekend, I had a great time getting caught up on sleep, caught up with friends, and relaxing. It was move-in weekend for the university kids so there was a lot of people in and around the city... I can only imagine the IKEA line-ups! I volunteered Saturday afternoon at the Lumiere Festival (Festival of Lights) in Stanley Park. The event took place Saturday evening but I helped all afternoon getting it set-up. Jenn arrived home Monday afternoon and I was pretty excited to have her and Oliver back :)
SYTYCD
With our new friend Melody, we have started a weekly SYTYCD ritual at unit 507. For those of you not up on your TV shows, So You Think You Can Dance is the dance competition version to American Idol. The current season we're watching is Canadian so all the performers are young Canadians trying to break into the dance world. Every Monday night, one of us prepares dinner and another provides the wine and we watch the two-hour performance show and chat. A very girly night and something I look forward to doing every week!
On the Radio!
I arrived at work around 6:30 one morning last week and was waiting for my computer to boot up and listening to the local morning show on the radio. The DJ's were talking about what people had done to make their summer 2010 the best summer. So, I decided to call in and tell them about my summer adventures. I have never called into a radio program before, but sure enough, I get through immediately and before I knew it I was talking to the 2 DJ's about my summer and going ziplining and to the Aerial Park and all this. When we hang up, I run out of my office to see if the other 2 co-workers who had arrived at work had heard me. Of course they hadn't! I was so disappointed as I recapped to them what had just happened. So I head back to my office and a couple minutes later, the guy on the radio says, "Up next we've got Kate on the line to tell us about what made 2010 an awesome summer for her" Woot-woot! I race back out of my office telling everyone to turn up their radios and we all listened :) For a small town girl from Thamesford this was a BFD.
And Still to Come in September...
The rest of the month brings lots of activity too. Uncle Paul's Memorial Golf Tournament takes place Sept 11th. This is the 4th year now for the tournament and I look forward to participating and seeing a lot of close friends and family. That is then followed by a Lockhart Family Brunch at the Elmhurst on Sunday Sept 12. Mom heads off to Paris on Sept 12 for a two-week trip with her travel friend Lorna. Dad will be staying home with Bentley. Corn and bean drying season should be getting underway then so he'll be out working for Zip at the dryers most days anyway. Susan and Alec celebrate their 2nd anniversary on Sept 26. The biggest news for me is that I am going to be heading to New York City for a work summit from Sept 29 - Oct 1!!! I'm very very excited and cannot wait to go.
I'll keep you posted....
