Hey Kate,
Good job on the casserole (saw the email pic). The entry about you getting lost is a little scary... but I'm glad you figured it out and got home safe.
Hey, I just had a fun blog idea... you could start posting one new recipe a month (your summer squash dish sounded yummy!) Talk to you soon.
Love Susan

Hey Kate!

I just saw your doors open post and I wanted to let you know that my sister in law works at the national gallery - how cool is that?!

Miss you and I hope to see you soon

Thanks for posting that recipe Kate! I am anxious to try spaghetti squash! Do you think I can fool Alec into thinking it isn't a vegetable?
I have a confession to make, I do not know how to make hard boiled eggs properly either - last time I tried they came out mushy...lol
Thank goodness for Google!

Easy Appetizer that is sure to WOW

Ingredients:
pilsbury crescent roll tubey thing
brie
red pepper jelly
Your favourite snack crackers

Wrap the brie with the crescent roll dough pieces. Layering them a little at the top for artistic effect.
Bake according to directions on package (with brie inside).
Top with a dollop of RPJ and/or put some in a dish beside. Serve with crackers and voila!
*A pottery serving dish is great for this because you can bake it right on there and then serve without having to transfer your food! Plus it's pretty :)

Those recipes sound yummy! Another recipe similar to that appetizer involves the following:

-cream cheese
-red pepper jelly (or that maple red pepper jelly from the maple farm)
- crackers

Put the red pepper jelly on top of the cream cheese on a plate or in a bowl and serve it with your favourite crackers!

My mouth is watering after reading that description of the portebello burger you ate at the Works! Avocado and carmelized onions are like my favourite foods!

We need to go there when I visit in a couple of weeks. I think one of your failed attempts was when I was visiting last!

I just caught up with your recent blog entries and wondered if all the novice cooks out there would know that the meat for your spaghetti squash lasagne would be browned in a frying pan before you added it to the layering. Just a thought as I don't think raw meat would get done enough otherwise. I have just bought a spaghetti squash and have all the other ingredients so am good to go!
Love,
Mom

Kate.....you never cease to amaze me!!! ...the things that you are doing ...you are turning into one crazy gal!!! I think I held my breath the whole time that I was reading this last adventure!!!I am almost afraid to think of what might be creeping into that head of yours as your next surprise!! I am thoroughly enjoying every blog entry ...it is such a great way to stay in communicato...I get my Kate fix each week and am always wondering what you are doing ...you must live for your weekends!! Takes you a week to recover and think up the next awesome adventure...I hope you are not going to be bored when you leave your Ottawa!! Sounds like you have some great friends to share in these adventures...were the pictures at bottom of the blog the before and after ones??/...also glad to hear that you had those nice young men looking after you !!

I have a recipe to share with you if you are looking for a decadent way to eat fresh fruit this summer...I think fruit is a great dessert after one of your delicious meals...

gather up some grapes, oranges, strawberries, melon, banana...whatever you have that is the right size for dipping...(blueberries are tough as they are so tiny)...but anyway...

1/2 c. orange juice
1 3/4 c. whipping cream ( unwhipped)
1 vanilla instant pudding ( the powder right out of the box , not made into pudding)

Put the 3 ingredients in a bowl and whip until thick and creamy...yummmmmmmm
**I am now thinking that this makes a lot of dip and maybe you should half the recipe...that will be no problem for you , miss Math whiz!!

Will send you a usual email soon...just thought I would try and do a recipe for something different...

Happy summer....

And stay safe kiddo!!

love ,

Marg

I think the Geese rule the roadways at UW as well. That is one thing I will never miss about Waterloo - the geese! They scared the hell out of me!

Glad you had a good time at Shakespeare in the Park. I'm heading to see Romeo and Juliet tonight in High Park here in T-dot. See you on Sunday :)

Wow! That does sound like the Drive From Hell! I am surprised you actually headed back to Ottawa with him. LOL - I would have likely been in tears on the way to Thamesford! I am really enjoying reading your blogs. It sounds like you are having a fantastic time.
